The JSM Language and Innovation Centre recognises that learning a language is your doorway to the world. Over the years we have hosted several events aimed at giving our language learners a taste of the diverse cultures around the world.
The JSM Language and Innovation Centre, in collaboration with the Embassy of Colombia, held Colombian Week during June 6th to June 10th, 2017. The events during this week – which were free to the public – focused on doing business in Colombia, Colombian tourism, a movie night featuring Colombian actors, music, and salsa dancing. The week closed with a ‘Mix and Mingle’ – a day of Colombian dance, food, music, and the sale of Colombian wares. The week was both informative and entertaining. A good time was had by all!

The JSM Language and Innovation Centre, in collaboration with the JET Programme Alumni Association (JETAA) Trinidad & Tobago, hosted Japanese Week November 2017!
Japan has a fascinating and multifaceted culture. On one hand, it is steeped in the deepest of traditions, dating back thousands of years, and on the other hand, it is a society in a state of rapid flux, with continually shifting fads and fashions and technological development that constantly push back the boundaries of the possible. This is part of what makes it such a fascinating country to visit. We were happy to bring a bit of Japan to you!

Guests were invited to enjoy a 1988 Italian drama film entitled Cinema Paradiso, written and directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, while they sipped one of three types of Italian wine: white (Bianco), red (Rosso) or pink (Rosato) + three pieces of bruschetta + Brie cheese.
